physiotherapy

A physiotherapist provides a variety of hands-on treatment, education and exercise prescription.

Physiotherapists can help you achieve your highest level of physical functioning (at any stage of life) by providing you with a personalized treatment plan based on your specific needs.

A Physiotherapist can help you with many different conditions from low back pain and neck injuries to post surgical conditions, neurological problems, and motor vehicle accident trauma. Examples of how a physiotherapist can help you include; preventing and treating sports injuries, restoring and increasing range of motion in joints, increasing coordination, helping injured individuals return to work successfully through "work hardening" programs, alleviating pain and educating clients in the use of devices such as canes, crutches, and wheelchairs.

Therapy treatment corrects or prevents skeletal damage and stimulates the function of muscles, nerves, joints, ligaments and blood supply.

athletic therapy

Langley Sports Medicine Clinic is the only private clinic in the Fraser Valley with a full-time practicing Certified Athletic Therapist.

In Canada, an Athletic Therapist is a certified member of the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association (CATA) and is referred to as a Certified Athletic Therapist (Canada) or a CAT(C). A Certified Athletic Therapist is an allied health professional who specializes in care and prevention of injuries of those who engage in an active lifestyle.

Our Athletic Therapist will assess the injury and educate you as to the anatomy involved, provide a description of how the treatment will help, provide a home program for recovery and prevention,, and use sport specific rehabilitation.

We utilize therapeutic modalities, soft tissue mobilization, supportive taping and bracing procedures to promote an environment conducive to optimal healing and prepare the individual for safe reintegration into an active lifestyle.

Biomechanical and gait analysis are often done in order to determine mechanism of injury and plan for treatment.

Massage therapy

A Registered Massage Therapist focuses on the assessment of the soft tissue and joints and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the structures through the use of manual techniques.

Techniques used to help improve circulation, neutralize muscular tension, relieve pain, reduce stress and promote health and well-being.

The greatest benefit comes from prevention. Through a combination of massage and stretching techniques a massage therapist can enhance the training and performance of athletes.

Regular massage helps achieve a feeling of physical and emotional well-being; as a result maintaining ideal health. Anyone who routinely pushes their physical limits or is involved in repetitive activities from athletes to secretaries - will benefit from massage.

Many musculoskeletal injuries can be treated and prevented with massage.
